More About Crystal Hermitage

Tulips and rainbowat Crystal Hermitage, N.D.In any season, what visitors find as they continue down the grand staircase is wondrous color – the lush greens of distant mountain evergreens and nearby tallow trees; the purples of winter pansies planted until the tulips burst through the ground in their springtime kaleidoscope of color; the blues, reds and oranges of dahlias, petunias and geraniums in the summer; the pinks, yellows, and whites of winter roses; the brilliant burgundies and burnt oranges of the fall leaves.  Every season is its own rainbow.

In addition to the beautiful year round terraced gardens, visitors find solitude in our lovely Chapel which was inspired by the Porziuncola, The Little Church of St. Francis, or in the Shrine of the Masters, which displays relics of our gurus and other great saints of Self-realization. The gold at the end of the rainbow is the Dome itself, a place of unparalleled space, light and harmony rich in collectible art, beautiful antique and Eastern furnishings, and a sense of peace and tranquility that is instilled deeply within.

At one time a piece of raw land situated on a precipice overlooking the Yuba River and the Sierra Nevada foothills, Crystal Hermitage is the spiritual heart of Ananda Village. It is the home of Swami Kriyananda, Ananda’s founder, and is part of the rich history that is Ananda Village, renowned for being one of the longest existing cooperative spiritual communities in the world. Early 2015 was the dedication of the Moksha Mandir, the final resting place for Swami Kriyananda, which draws pilgrims from around the world.
